The moment Sony fast-tracked plans to develop an American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in 2011 – only two years after the release of the original, Noomi Rapace version – a handful of moviegoers were understandably perplexed.Drafting in top-tier talent in the form of Daniel Craig, director David Fincher and The Social Network's Rooney Mara as the enigmatic Lisbeth Salander, the end product was a chilling, largely enjoyable psychological thriller, and though Sony had initially mapped out plans to adapt Stieg Larsson's full Millennium series, off the back of lowly box office returns, those plans quickly unravelled.Indeed, interest in the English-language version appears to be waning and waning fast, but as is so often the case, Sony's radio silence on the matter has only fuelled speculation regarding Dragon Tattoo's future.
